Market Needs
Lime mortar is a traditional building material used for binding bricks, stones, and other masonry units. It has been used for decades and is valued for its flexibility, breathability, and high compatibility. Lime mortar consists of three primary components: lime, sand, and water.
Solution
Lime mortar uses two main types of lime: non-hydraulic lime and hydraulic lime. Non-hydraulic lime, available as lime putty or hydrated lime, sets slowly through carbonation, remains flexible, and is highly breathable, making it ideal for historic restorations. Hydraulic lime, including natural hydraulic lime (NHL) and formulated hydraulic lime, sets faster with water and is suitable for damp conditions and structural work. The choice depends on project requirements such as setting time, environmental conditions, and material compatibility.
